During the processing of plastic additives in production, deposits of fresh and hardened oil-wax-rubber residues occur throughout the production area. The residues must be removed as completely as possible after each working day. In the past, volatile solvents containing VOCs were used for this purpose. These are now to be replaced for health and safety reasons.
The first step in the inventory was to analyse the type of contamination. The customer helped us with precise descriptions and documents of the raw materials and auxiliary materials used. Based on the information provided, several safe solvents from Eco-Nova were considered for the cleaning test.
The test was carried out on a small metal plate to which the soiling was applied. After a reaction time of a few minutes, 3 Eco-Nova cleaners were tested.
The results of the cleaners tested were compared with each other. Two cleaners showed similar cleaning performance. In a direct comparison, the customer opted for RF-Cleaner due to its NSF certification and the more pleasant odour. By using RF-Cleaner, the hazardous solvents from the cleaning process could be replaced and the requirement to improve occupational safety was also met.
