Oils and greases adhere firmly to metal, plastic and floors, forming greasy films when combined with dust and swarf. Solvent-based degreasers or strongly alkaline cleaners are often used for this purpose. They are effective, but often require protective equipment, explosion protection or special storage conditions – and can damage sensitive materials such as seals or paintwork.
