Effective steel mold cleaning without hazardous substances

If possible, the customer's metal molds should be cleaned with cleaners that are free of hazardous substances. The final cleaning should also be as residue-free as possible. The use of particularly volatile solvents, which flash off quickly, was prohibited by the company because they are too dangerous for the employees.

At ECO-NOVA, the process for solving a cleaning problem is always carried out in three defined steps. This sequence has proven itself in practice and ensures optimum service and the fastest way to solve our customers' cleaning challenges.

Step 1

Analysis

Together with the customer, the local conditions, the object to be cleaned, and the current situation were analyzed. The task was quickly clear. A cleaner without hazardous substances was needed. The parts to be cleaned are mainly made of metals such as steel. Currently, the cleaning is carried out in 1 pass. The cleaners used are based on substances containing VOCs, which should also be reduced in the best case. The desire is also to manage the cleaning in one step in the future, if possible.

Step 2

Consultation & Demonstration

Based on the customer, suitable cleaners from the existing range were selected for the requirements and brought to the next on-site appointment by our technical consultant. In a specially prepared cleaning situation, several cleaning runs were carried out with cleaners from Eco-Nova. The solvent Topclean proved to be particularly efficient. The wish to continue cleaning with a solvent free of hazardous substances in one work step, however, had to be abandoned. For the customer, aspects such as no hazardous substances and VOC-containing products were more important. The compromise is a solvent with excellent dissolving properties, but with low volatile properties, so that subsequent cleaning is necessary.

Step 3

Solution

The customer has opted for the solution we proposed. From now on, he will be using our Topclean solvent. In doing so, he does without hazardous substances in his production and makes the compromise of a post-cleaning.
