At a glance

Your role in the project

Dissolves salts from rust scars that water alone often cannot reach – a prerequisite for a long-lasting coating. Its effectiveness can be demonstrated using the Bresle test in accordance with ISO 8502-6/-9. Available ready-to-use or as a concentrate, depending on the project. Not classified as hazardous according to the safety data sheet; not classified as dangerous goods under ADR; WGK 1. Manufactured in Schüttorf.

Basic

Water-based, acidic, containing surfactants

Classification

Not classified as hazardous according to the SDS (EUH208)

pH value

approx. 3

Container

10, 20, 60, 200, 1.000 L

Deployment

Suitable for

  • Offshore platforms: jackets, legs, railings, lifting equipment
  • Jack-up legs
  • Offshore wind power: monopiles, transition pieces, platforms
  • Ships in dry dock: hull, superstructure, ballast tanks
  • Port and shipyard components prior to coating
  • Refurbishment of existing coatings where salt contamination has been confirmed

Processing

  • Use only distilled or fully demineralised water for mixing and rinsing.
  • Remove any grease, oil and loose rust beforehand.
  • Rinse with high-pressure water and deionised water, and collect all the rinse water.
  • Verify success using the Bresle test in accordance with ISO 8502-6/-9.
  • Acidic solution (pH approx. 3): Protect aluminium, galvanised surfaces and seals, or test them beforehand.

Project Timeline

This is how a project works with us

1

Clarify requirements

Object, area, time slot and the required limit value as specified in your specification.

2

Test the sample area

Using a test sample and taking measurements before and after – together with your assessor.

3

Specify the delivery method

Ready to use or as a concentrate, in suitable containers ranging from 10 to 1,000 litres.

4

Accompany the operation

Documentation for the work plan and risk assessment, delivery to the shipyard, port or base, and a designated contact person.

Form of supply

Tailored to the application and logistics requirements

Different conditions apply at sea, in the dock or at the shipyard. That is why we supply our products in the form that best suits your project:

1

Ready to use

Use straight away, without mixing – if there is no water treatment facility available on site.

2

As a concentrate

To be diluted on site with distilled or fully demineralised water – cost-effective for large areas.

3

Tailored to your project

We tailor the concentration and formulation to the application, time frame and logistics.

Technical Specifications

Data as per the data sheet

Information as per the safety data sheet and technical data sheet. The most recent data sheet shall prevail.

Evidence

A trial area rather than empty promises

Only a measurement can show whether a product meets the specification on your component. We recommend starting every project with a test area and documenting the results together with your assessor – for salt removers, for example, using the Bresle test in accordance with ISO 8502-6 and ISO 8502-9.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Water removes loose salts from the surface. It often fails to reach the crystals within the rust scars completely – even with new steel, the required standard is sometimes not met. The Salt Remover dissolves these residues.
Not necessarily. Blasting is used for mechanical preparation, whilst the salt remover is used to remove any remaining salts. The two methods are often combined; it is usually the assessor who decides which method to use.
Ready to use or as a concentrate for dilution on site. We tailor the concentration and formulation to your project. Packaging: 10, 20, 60, 200 and 1,000 litres.
Using a test sample on a test area: measure the residual salt content beforehand, apply the Salt Remover, then measure again. This allows you and your assessor to see, based on the Bresle value, how well the product performs on your component.
